What is AMERI’KANA?

  • AMERI'KANA is a four night live-streamed music event October 21-24 at 8 PM CST that explores the rich origins and history of American music through the insight of artists and educators. The event shares its name with a Making Movies album and is the Spanish pronunciation for the word “americana,” which translates to ‘of the Americas.’ 
  • A portion of all proceeds benefit the Kansas City based non-profit, Art As Mentorship, founded by Enrique Chi of Making Movies.

What artists are going to be performing and when?

  • The Oct 24th line up features Making Movies, Los Lobos, Terrance Simien, Flor De Toloache, The Sensational Barnes Brothers, Deborah Barnes, Cedric Burnside, Boo Mitchell, Reverend Charles Hodges, Martha Gonzalez and Marcella Simien
  • The Oct 23rd line up features Kevin Morby, Samia, Luke Winslow-King,  The Black Creatures, Nina Diaz, Addie Sartino, Brandon Yangmi, and Making Movies collaborating with youth from the Rebel Song Academy.

Who is Making Movies?

  • Making Movies is a band known for its innovative sound-- a blend of electric guitars, psychedelic synths, and rumbero rhythms that showcase their Mexican, Panamanian, and Kansas City roots. Get to know them on Instagram, Facebook, & Twitter

Is AMERI’KANA free?

  • AMERI'KANA is FREE and live-streamed on Facebook and YouTube. Signing up for the free GA Ticket will send you the streaming links and updates as we get closer to the show, the AMERI'KANA MASK and AMERI'KANA KC Packages come with extra perks and proceeds benefit Art As Mentorship.

I don't live in Kansas City but can I still support?

  • You can donate directly to Art As Mentorship HERE. Any donations over $25 will come with access to the VIP Making Movies Zoom After Party on October 24.

Will there be any in-person events during AMERI’KANA?

  • You can enjoy the show from the comfort of your home this year, as there will be no in-person events.

What do I get with the AMERI'KANA KC Package?

  • The $100 AMERI’KANA KC package includes access to the VIP Making Movies Zoom After Party October 24th, a holographic AMERI’KANA fest Sticker; as well as 2 meals and a Mean Mule Cocktail Kit from The Bite (Kansas City, Missouri), which you may pick up on October 24 from 5 PM to 7 PM. An email with additional pick up information will be sent before the festival.

Is there a vegetarian option for the dinner that comes with the AMERI’KANA KC Package?

  • Yes! You can choose between a chicken dinner and/or fully vegetarian meal. There will be a drop down menu with these options on the product page right under the price.

How will I receive my dinner with my AMERI’KANA KC Package?

  • You will need to pick your order up on October 24 between 5 PM and 7 PM at The Bite: 23 E 3rd St, Kansas City, MO 64106. More detailed instructions will be sent by email the week of the festival.
